March 5th 10am-12:30pm
Hosted by Race to Zero Waste
Instructors: Teresa Bradley and Hayden Sloan
This workshop provides an overview of the dynamics of setting up Zero Waste systems for special events, stadiums, venues and convention centers. Special events pose a different challenge when trying to eliminate wasteful practices. The nature of special events and venues provides for a constant change in vendors, attendees, products and logistics to coordinate. Creating mechanisms that allow for the reduction of waste and recycling can seem impossible. Proper planning and understanding of the best practices that can be implemented at stadiums, venues and other event centers is key.
Upon completion of this course the learner will:
Understand what events and venues are important to target for waste reduction and recycling
Recognize the differences between event and venue types and how best to plan for each
Identify how to plan for Zero Waste at events
Describe why and how to manage vendors, employees and attendees for maximum success
Understand the types of signage needed
Review case studies of successful events and venue practices and programs
